Quiet in Chinese


To be quiet, still, or tranquil is demonstrated through the Chinese character “jìng.”  While this might seem counter intuitive for native English speakers due to songs like “Jingle Bells,” it is nonetheless the embodiment of quietness.

    For turning down the volume, I think the request is “qing yi dian.” (Just another way to say “quieter” in Chinese).
